The Traveller’s Word
Word of mouth is the best measure. This is a collection of testimonials kindly sent by guests after a BHS safari.
First time clients of Brett Horley Safaris
Illana and her husband Harel, together with Avital and her husband Franklin, travelled for the first time with BHS, spending two nights at Tuningi Safari Lodge in Madikwe Game Reserve, en route to Cape Town. Here is their feedback on their experience in this special South African place.
Hi Brett and Rosey!
Tuningi Safari Lodge was definitely worthy of its 5 stars! Accommodations were wonderful and luxe, the meals were a foodie’s
fantasy, and the staff who serviced our every need were amazing.

The Woodward family from the United Kingdom spent five nights at Kichwa Tembo in the Masai Mara and have sent us their feedback on their safari since returning home.
Dear Brett and Rosey
I just want to say what a fantastic time we have had at Kichwa Tembo. It exceeded all of our expectations. The animals were extraordinary. We saw the Big Five within 2 days! I would recommend Kichwa Tembo to anyone, but more importantly, I would strongly recommend Brett Horley Safaris when planning a safari experience.

Andrew and Rebecca and their four sons have just returned from their first trip to Africa. The family of six from Australia started at the sea in Zanzibar, and then onto their Tanzanian safari from Arusha, to Ngorongoro Crater and ending in the Serengeti National Park. Here is their feedback:
Words can not describe what an amazing time we had on our trip to Tanzania. We absolutely loved every single minute of it.
Ian King and Elise LePage-King went to Kwandwe Private Game Lodge in South Africa’s Eastern Cape for 3 nights. They also visited Cape Town where they made their own hotel arrangements, while BHS arranged their day trips with local tour guide, Mac. Here is their feedback.
Third time repeat clients of Brett Horley Safaris
We wanted to thank both you and Rosey for the very well planned adventure in Namibia. We both absolutely loved it! We would also like to thank you for the lovely bottle of sparkling wine (which went down a treat after a long day!) and the fruit you organised for our anniversary. We very much appreciated it. The trip was amazing. Namibia is certainly a country of breathtaking scenery and wonderful sightings of the animals.
Thank you so much for the arrangements you made for African Horizon Technologies at Ivory Tree Lodge. My clients from Water Now Inc in North America said it was one of the best experiences of their lives. So much did they enjoy the trip that they have already confirmed they would return again in June/July next year. Seeing 4 of the Big 5 in less than 24 hours was remarkable, along with two cheetah on the prowl was awesome.
Once again you have left your mark, on not only my wife and I, but on our kids too. It was a privilege to ride on the back of your vehicle and absorb your knowledge and passion for the bush. Absolutely amazing and unforgettable sightings in the Timbavati with Mfezi and yourself. We look forward to using Brett Horley Safaris for all our future safari experiences.
Thanks again. We will never forget our times with you.
The Butlers visited Ivory Tree Game Lodge in Pilanesberg, South Africa, for a special occasion. Here is their feedback:
“Staff went out of their way for our 60th Wedding Anniversary, and made it extra special. A wonderful few days in the bush. Thank you very much to Brett Horley Safaris for all the arrangements!
We had a wonderful stay at Galago Camp. I have to recommend our guide team; Taxon, the guide, was a very knowledgable person. We were fortunate to view the Big 5 close up, thanks to the effort of our guide team. The wild dogs were extra special. Thank you for recommending Galago Camp, we appreciate your effort.
What a trip we have had! I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of camping and wildlife. The tour was quite full-on with so much mileage, but boy did it give you a fabulous taste of Uganda. Lovely people, lush landscape, awesome wildlife. I’m so pleased that I decided to do two runs at the gorillas.
Thanks for a fantastic experience in Timbavati last week and one I hope to repeat again one day. Your approach to the whole week was professional and your ability to engage with the children is a very special skill. Our party comprised seasoned safari goers and novices across the full age spectrum and with not one dull moment.
Made the impossible possible!
We had a last minute plan to head into the bush with plenty of obstacles that could have thwarted the trip but Brett and Rosey stepped up to make it one of the best adventures of our lives! For starters there was the logistics: We were a pair coming from separate locations, Bahrain and India. When my flight from India was over 12 hours delayed arriving we were doubtful we could make the drive to Kruger in time for check in but with both Rosey and Brett on the line making sure we were on the quickest route and calling ahead to the lodge to let them know of our late arrival it all ended up working out!
This was our fourth trip with Brett Horley Safaris, having now been to 7 different parks in 3 different countries (South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe). If that isn’t a corroboration of their brilliant work, I’m not sure what is. This most recent time we went to Victoria Falls, Mana Pools and Hwange National Park. Brett’s contacts on the ground ensure the best possible breadth of options, and every trip we’ve been on has been put together meticulously.
Our trip to SA has been truthfully rated as one of the ‘Big 5’ holidays for all in the group. From the moment we set foot in the Timbavati game reserve everybody knew they were in for a massive treat.
One phrase summarises it all : BEST IN CLASS! We can’t wait to book our next trip with Brett Horley Safaris.
Be assured we had the most incredible time. We have so many memories and photos to bring back with us.
It really was an amazing experience that will be hard to describe properly to our friends and family back home.
The staff at Dulini made it as special as it could have been.
Thank you so much for your guidance and planning!
Thanks again, we’ll be in touch.
“Hi Rosemary and Brett,
“Many thanks and regards from the Moroccan group. We are back home and remembering the great time we had with you during our stay in the Walker River’s Camp. Your presence, your positive attitude and your warmth (especially with the young ones) were greatly appreciated by the whole group. It was a great occasion to discover the bush and its many facets with a talented and experienced guide. I would love to extend this experience and participate one day in one of your safaris in Southern Africa. Be assured that you have friends in Morocco and you are very welcome anytime to visit.” Ikbal, Morocco
“I can honestly not thank you enough for putting on the trip and organizing all of the different activities we did; was truly an amazing experience; one which is not going to be forgotten, I just can’t believe that it’s over already. I feel like I have made some great friends from the college and out in South Africa, that I will stay contact with for many years.
“I would like to thank you for the opportunity to stay at your beautiful river camp, what a fantastic experience. The camp was really great, and the game viewing really exciting. The professional manner and friendliness shown by Brett really made the weekend special. Brett really went out of way to make the stay a memorable experience for my family, especially my mother and father in law, this been there first experience of open game drives.” Jay, South Africa
Firstly, thanks for an extremely enjoyable experience. This was a lifetime dream for me and I’m sure for all the others, and you made the dream more than I would have thought possible, so thank you very much for your patience with us and for what seemed to us that you went that extra mile. The dog chase being 1 example, but also the freedom you allowed us. All in all, a fantastic experience. I will recommend you to anybody I know who is looking for this type of experience.
“I just wanted to send you a little message to THANK YOU both for such an amazing safari experience. It was mine and Jess’ first time on safari and I can honestly say it was the best holiday we have ever had. We thought you both were absolutely fantastic. Brett, your knowledge was extraordinary and it’s just not the same being back home now, seeing an animal/bird and not having anyone to ask what it is. We can’t compare you to any other guide but it was clear to see that you were highly respected by the other guides and how much you enjoy your ‘job’.
“Well, the dust has well and truly settled on our trip. When we were organising this trip we had only a vague idea of how it would turn out as 6 people have different expectations, so I was really pleased with everyone’s feedback on their enjoyment of the trip. You were a big part in the success, so many thanks for your involvement in the planning and execution of the safari, there were so many memories stored away by all of us. We will continue to recommend you in the future and, who knows, we may turn up again maybe around a Super 15 game this time. I wont go on about the test but you live in a wonderful country and I hope that the future is good for everyone. Good luck with the birth of your first child and once again, many thanks.” Gavin, New Zealand
“Thank you so much for being such a brilliant Ranger to us last week. We had an amazing week that I am sure none of us will forget. Thank you also for your humour and patience with us all. We all learned loads and your enthusiasm is infectious. Please keep us updated on Harry the Hippo.” Susan, England
